NEWSLETTER   -  NUMBER 3 - 2010

Dear Members

Here’s a “GOOD NEWS” newsletter to brighten up your day, week and what’s left of this month:

  1. 2010/11 Magalies Meander Brochure

Fasten your seat-belts – it’s finally been printed (last week) and initial supplies are available for collection at Crystal Feeling, Magaliesburg; Masibambane Guest House and Conference Venue (near Rustenburg) and Van Gaalen Cheese Farm (Skeerport). All 20 boxes of 250 copies have been delivered to these Members’ venues for collection at your convenience. Grateful thanks to Chris Berry, Tony Gibb and Erik Schipper for their kindly assisting us by acting as “depots”.
By the end of next week, we will be receiving the balance of stock from the printer and, once again, Phil Hoff has very kindly offered to “warehouse” these at his Western Cane/Jameson Cottages venue for us. Please assist yourselves and the Meander by collecting copies for your patrons and guests whenever you run low on supplies at your venue.
Over the coming three months we’ll be busy with a campaign of direct distribution to our Gauteng target market to augment the usual distribution by Brochure Management Services to over 130 selected sites of their display boards.
In addition to the brochures, we’re having 60000 A3-size leaflets printed, (folded to DL), which will boost the visibility of The Magalies Meander at a variety of distribution opportunities – including the forthcoming Get-Away show in August  and others. As agreed at the AGM lat year, we’ll also be producing a Digital Visitors Guide (on-line version) which can be e-mailed and integrated into TMM web-site.
Over and above all this planned publicity, via the good offices of Ken Hamilton, we’re busy arranging “advertorial” for TMM.

  1. 2010 World Cup Soccer benefits

I am delighted to learn of the boosts that many of our Members are enjoying as result of the influx of guests and visitors to our venues. The hype around this huge event and all the publicity about our area and it’s attractions, should provide us with even more optimism for the turn-around in tourism within our area. Once the overseas visitors return to their various countries of origin in the coming weeks, it’s essential that we focus on our local (mainly Gauteng) market.

  1. Security and Crime

Keep the vigilance and safety measures that you are all (I hope!!) observing for your patrons and guests. We don’t need any more of the kind of negative, world-wide, publicity of an attack on foreign guests that occurred at one of (non-member’s) venues earlier this month.
We’re planning to have a Members’ Social towards the end of July and details will be sent out shortly. Please remind me to share with you the saga of our “Keystone Cops” in the area and the masterful strokes of their “Crime Prevention Strategy”!!

With best wishes
